A History Lesson

Open up your journal and take a look from about…oh, let’s say 10 years ago.  You’ll likely find something that you wrote in there that may still be lurking in present day life that was never resolved.  Take a look at your journal from 5 years ago and see if that same thing from 10 years ago showed up again.  How about more recent than that? Take a look at this years journal and look to see if there is something in your emotional life, financial life, relationship, career, or spiritual life that you wrote down that was present then and keeps coming back unfinished, unresolved, or undeniably yours to contend with still.

At this point, you might be saying, “I’ve never kept a journal.” In that case, you should definitely keep reading this.  Journal or no journal, I’m certain you can peruse through the events of your life and recognize that nifty little lesson that you never quite learned.  Well, yup, you guessed it! You are supposed to learn it. The lesson was given to you and more than once and oops! if you haven’t kept a journal of your own life all these years to start tracking your own lessons, then you better start playing catch up.  You better start jotting down what the heck is going on so that you can pinpoint what you are supposed to be learning.  These are things that you are only going to find in your own textbooks, the ones that you have written and recorded in.

Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

-George Santayana (Spanish Philosopher 1863-1952)

Oooooohhhh….did you read that quote? Here it is again:

Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

-George Santayana (Spanish Philosopher 1863-1952)

And there you are not keeping a journal, repeating history over and over again.  If you’ve been told to keep a journal…which I’m pretty sure you have at some point in your life, then this is the history lesson for you…go get a journal and then in 10 years, come back and read this blog and tell me what you’ve learned.

Need a journal? Go here and get one already!
